Looking Back

2013 was an amazing year filled with so many different experiences and things I never thought would happen. We're now a few days into 2014 and more continues to change. I decided between the stress, unknowing, and other factors to quit my job as a Freelance Fashion Assistant at Marie Claire. I was in over the holidays training my replacement and I hope she does a great job. It was honestly a hard decision, but I feel like it is for the best. Because of this decision, I was able to spend Christmas with my family and am feeling better than I had since August. I've been able to spend time with my sister and cousin, eat some great food, and have fun shopping.

I've decided to make a list of some of my favorite things from 2013:

My sister got this product for me for Christmas and I LOVE it. My Lush obsession started small with soap last Christmas, when my mom and I got some with the buy one, get one free sale after Christmas. Since then, I've expanded and basically want to buy the whole store when I go in. But this is my favorite product at the moment. I have little bumps on my arms that I've had since I can remember. I've tried so many scrubs and lotions to help fix them. This product is great because it exfoliates while moisturizing. I come out of the show and don't have to put any moisturizers on even in dry weather!

These little mozzarella are genius. I was buying either the $5 or $10 balls of fresh mozzarella at Whole Foods and never using the whole thing before it went bad. These little balls stay fresh for 2 months in their packaging. You get the perfect amount of cheese without wasting any. I toss the cheese in with pasta, salads, or even just eat on its own for a snack.

Vera Bradley Throw Blanket

I used to love Vera Bradley – I still have a ton of bags and pouches of all sizes in varying prints. My mom and I went into the store and fell in love with their blankets after going in for a key chain. They are super long, soft, and cuddly. My sister and I each have one in our apartment – and my mom has two at home. I just got a “We Miss You” $20 coupon – so we might be buying another one to put away. We gave these as Christmas presents to my grandmothers and they both love them.

I really only started getting into putting a full face of makeup on in January 2013. Before that, it didn't matter much what I looked like for school. But with the restrictions to what to wear for Valentino Market, I figured I should look professional. This is my favorite foundation - it's not heavy, it gives great coverage, and looks great on. I've been trying BB creams also, but I keep coming back to this. It is expensive, but my first bottle lasted me from January - September.

I am obsessed with nail polish. These are my favorite for the price, size, and color selection. I bought one at Sephora because it was the perfect metallic. Then I bought a mystery box and now I am trying to use all my nail polish at least once before buying any more. These are easy to hold, have great coverage, and amazing color selections. I'm a "Classic with a Twist", how about you?

Valentino Rockstuds are my by far best purchase in the shoe department (and I've bought a lot of shoes this year also including Rag & Bone booties, Christian Louboutin, Lanvin, and L. K. Bennett). I bought the above shoes while interning at Valentino for my birthday. I am obsessed. They are perfect. They are comfortable, unique, and the perfect nude. I had originally wanted the Christian Louboutin Simple in Nude, but these are so much more unique. I constantly got compliments when I wore them out and at the Marie Claire offices.

The perfect black pants for work. I have two pairs of them and love them. I bought both pairs from Bloomingdales, which has the best denim selection in the city - especially when they are running sales or have Friends & Family going on.

Some other things that don't need pictures and whole posts include Leather Spa (all my designer shoes go to get rubber soles put on before I wear them), Dry Bar, Gel Manicures, upcoming Broadway shows, figuring out how to get library books on my Kindle/iPad, and See's Candy (they opened up one in my hometown mall - I'm obsessed with their Scotch Kisses and a few of their chocolate selections).

Those are my favorites from this year. There are plenty of runners up and products I haven't tried enough to love yet. I'll follow up with a What I Want to Try in 2014 post. There are plenty of objects I have my eye on in stores or I have sitting in my apartment!
